WRITING

  • AWFUL DISCLOSURES a riff on Awful Disclosures or The Hidden Secrets of a Nun's Life in a Convent Exposed

    • In 1836, Maria Monk wrote a confessional that sparked public hysteria on enduring psychological horror inside a convent. This play employs
the text, framework, and public response surrounding Awful Disclosures to investigate similar questions of truth, organized religion and disinformation in
Trump-era USA. Set in 2017 small tow
n America, the adaptation considers what happens when an anonymous Twitter account starts reporting detailed accounts of mistreatment, maps, secret rooms, and other confessionals alleging abuse at a Conversion Therapy center on the outskirts of town. The account forces
the town’s populace to reckon with the way in which religion has been warped
in conversion therapy to justify mistreatment of queer youth.

    • Finalist, The Orchard Project Adaptation Lab 2022

  • AFFINITY based on the novel by Sarah Waters, co-adapted with Ryan Adelsheim

Affinity examines one woman's quest for connection, liberty, and even love, in a strait-laced society.
